Ever changing seasons…

I love the ever changing seasons. Spring. Summer. Autumn. Winter. Every single one of them. Each unique in their own beautiful way. But when I think about it, there’s always one problem. When it’s Spring, I want it to be Summer. When it’s Summer, I want it to be Autumn. When it’s Autumn, I want it to be winter and so on and so forth. It’s a vicious circle. And it’s only when I realise this, that I begin to see I’m mindlessly wishing the seasons to come around faster and faster each year. Effectively wishing a lifetime away…rather than embracing the beauty of each season. In some ways though, that is really a trait that all humans share. The need for change, and the ache of never really being fully satisfied.

Summer Goals!

Summer is here once again, and out of all the seasons July is my favourite…maybe because I was born in this month. So to kickstart it, I’ve made a list of my summer goals!

-Go out more! ~ I am slowing becoming more and more of a hermit crab and it really needs to stop, everyone says your 20’s are the years for living life to the full and to be honest…I’m wasting them.
– Drink more ~ For a normal 23 year old I don’t drink as half as much as I should…and for a single 23 year old It’s even worse…plus if your going to drink in any month it might swell be my birthday month!
– Take more chances (for example in love) ~ Ugh. That’s the only thing I can say. I just need to.
– Go on adventures ~ Walking, hiking, driving, flying, heck even some of my dreams could have more adventures.
– Try running again ~ I tried this a few weeks ago for the first time in years. It hurt a lot…but I just need to persevere.
– Finish my book ~ Due to my current obsession with Netflix it’s hard to make time for anything else…but I started a book so this month, I. Shall. Finish. It!
– Go to a spa ~ I still haven’t been to a spa yet and heck I deserve some pampering! So where better to do it?
– Be better with money ~ I have been in my overdraft for ages now, so I really need to sort my shit out…like pronto.
– Be reckless ~ I mean I feel like this is self explanatory after my other points…I mean you could even say this list is a bit reckless due to not making this 10 bullet points and only 9…😜

Amsterdam in July…

Last July a few friends of mine decided to book a last minute trip to Amsterdam. I’d only been to Amsterdam once before for a few hours on a ferry trip, and to be honest I wanted to travel as much as possible last year…so I just thought why not!

There was 6 of us altogether, and it was the first time I’d been on holiday with a group of friends rather than just one friend. Normally I’m a bit hesitant about travelling in groups, just due to the fact that you have to accommodate to what everyone wants to do. But to be honest this wasn’t an issue for us at all seen as everyone wanted to do relatively similar things anyway, which made things a hell of a lot easier.

So we stayed for three nights in Amsterdam at the Camp Inn Hotel, which was a great hotel which also offered bike rental which was ideal to get around Amsterdam. It was room only, which was perfect as it allowed us to check out what food Amsterdam had to offer, and it really didn’t disappoint. Inside the city centre, Amsterdam basically accommodates all food lovers. Theres pastries, pizza, spaghetti, sandwiches, burgers…you get the idea. Not to mention the coffee there is amazing!

Obviously we didn’t just go for the food aspect of Amsterdam, so we had just three days to fit in as much of Amsterdam’s culture as humanly possible. We went to the museum of prostitution, the sex museum, we went on a tour at the Heineken Experience, Amsterdam’s Ice bar, the red light district, and of course we popped into a bulldog coffee shop. Oh I almost forgot we also took a leisurely bike ride through the streets and along the canal…which meant nearly getting run over by a tram (when in Amsterdam eyy).

Overall the trip was pretty amazing. We didn’t get to go to the Anne Frank house, but it’s definitely on my bucket list. Either way I’ll have to go back at some point, as Amsterdam has so much to offer. Hopefully there are more group trips are to come too! Oh and the weather was pretty good too!

STOP WHAT YOUR DOING! Autumn is here…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I LOVE AUTUMN. So stop what you’re doing right now and take this is…autumn is here for you! BUT are you ready?

No this isn’t just a blog to notify you of the start of the best season. This is basically your go to guide, a mini handbook if you will…of how to make that transition between the season of sweat and the season of crunchy leaves.

First things first. Hot drinks! Leave the ice behind, the cold is coming for you. Now I know in warmer countries, you probably want to keep the ice around all year-long. But come on guys this is England, and it gets cold here…fast. So unless your drinking some sort of frappuccino, just forget about ice, your just making it worse for yourself.

Second on the list of amendments is clothing. Go right to the back of your wardrobe and pull out anything that screams autumn/winter. I’m talking boots, scarfs, big coats, tights, jumpers, and….the fluffy socks!! (this might not apply if your like me and wear them all year round). Anyway it’s time to start wrapping up warm so layer up!

This leads onto the next change of make up. Now that there’s less chance of us sweating off half a face of make up while we’re at work or just out and about, we can wear it all again. This means autumn eyeshadow, with some serious blending! And of course dark lipstick, the holy grail. Get ready for some dark red lips on Instagram!

Back to the food side of things, now that we don’t have to bare flesh we can start being a little bit more naughty again. So what if you accidentally skip the fruit and go for a chocolate pudding smothered in warm custard. Or even that bacon and brie panini instead of the standard salad. It’s okay! Not many people will see your body now until next year. (Probably shouldn’t be saying this when I’ve just started the gym like!)

Last thing on the agenda! Spending! For some reason I think I spend the most money in this season. Whether its candles, fleece blankets, books I’ll plan to (but never will) read, some random room decorations, or again a massive amount of fluffy socks…if it’s in the shops, it’s in my basket!

Anyway I’m sure I could go on and on but I’ll let you get back to the rest of your day now. Don’t forget this month I’ll be attempting my own blogtober…so keep your eyes peeled! 😘

10 songs I love…right now

Ok so I’m not always up to date with the charts, which leaves me behind on knowing which artists/songs are ‘cool’ but here’s a list of 10 songs which I like to jam out to if I’m alone in the house or driving around in my car…

  1. Shut up and Dance – Walk the moon. I have no idea how I’ve only recently discovered walk the moon. They are amazing! I must play this song at least ten times a day.
  2. Heal – Tom Odell. I’ve had Tom Odell’s album downloaded for a while but it’s only since I watched the film ‘If I stay’ that I rediscovered it and fell completely in love with it.
  3. King – Years and Years. Ugh I don’t even know where to begin with this, I just love it! Maybe because I feel I can relate to being tied down when you just want to run free haha.
  4. Where are you now – Justin Bieber ft. Skrillex. This is just such a catchy song, in a kind of annoying way…but it helps if you have a secret temporary crush on Justin Bieber.
  5. Trouble – Iggy Azalea ft. Jennifer Hudson. I just love the sass that the song has…and the rapping haha. Can’t say I don’t attempt to join in.
  6. Sugar – Maroon 5. Do I need more of a reason to like this song other than Adam Levine?
  7. The Nights – Avicii. Avicii is just an amazing artist, but this song has so much meaning behind it. Live a life you will remember.
  8. Gives you Hell – All American Rejects. An oldie but a goody. I always find myself going back for more.
  9. Now I’m on the outside – Ellie Golding. Again this song is relatable, but Ellie Golding is such a remarkable and powerful woman. Good meaning.
  10. Break Free – Ariana Grande. I think a lot of my song choices are pro women right now…maybe even feminist. Right now I want to focus on myself and this song sums it up really.

So that’s my top 10. I think summer is just a good time for good songs, but these will be in my playlist for a few more months…probably until I get sick of them.

Preparation…

Today is the day.

In the past couple of months I’ve thought a lot about travelling…but in reality it feels like it will never happen. I want to change this so I’ve decided that today is the day I shall start planning where I want to travel, what I’m most interested in seeing and how much money I need to save up. The trip won’t actually be until next summer, but still it’s better to be prepared then leave everything to the last minute…at least with some aspects. The trip will begin in the UK travelling down from my home town and then beginning to travel through and around Europe. So far that’s all I know. I’m sure everything will come together a few months down the line, but until then let’s get planning!

“When all this started, I asked myself, ‘Am I going to withdraw from the world, like most people do, or am I going to live?’ I decided I am going to live-or at least try to live-the way I want, with dignity, with courage, with humor, with composure.” – Mitch Albom.
