Velvet Teddy

So a couple of weeks ago…I bought my first ever mac lipstick. I know that seems unimportant to any guys that are currently reading this…but for the girls this could be a pretty big deal.

Now some of you may be thinking how the hell did I get to the ripe old age of 24 without buying a mac lipstick, especially when there are 13 year olds walking around wearing this stuff. The truth is, I’m a tight arse. I didn’t want to spend nearly £17 on a lipstick if  wasn’t sure on the colour or finish of it. So after scrolling through many Instagram posts and looking on the Mac website a million times, I finally decided to go for the nude Velvet Teddy which has a matte finish.

BEST. DECISION. EVER.

The application is smooth with a beautiful finish, it’s long lasting (which I’ve tried and tested while eating and drinking everything I could find) and the colour is basically my lip colour but better. This choice was definitely the best choice for my first purchase…the only reason why it wasn’t a good decision is because now I want to go and buy more, and right now my bank balance just won’t be happy with me.

The only other thing I have noticed about this lipstick, is that when looking on Instagram, twitter or even on YouTube videos…the colour of this lipstick looks completely different on everyone. It’s as if it’s some sort of chameleon lipstick. Other than that I’d recommend it to anyone…who wants to pay that much.

American Horror Story

American Horror Story without being too obvious, is an American Horror tv series which focuses on different story lines, each as sinister or creepy as the last. Just about everyone and their cat has seen at least one of the seasons if not them all…and of course everyone has an opinion on which was the best, which was the scariest, and which went just a bit too far.

Anyway this blog is basically my opinion on each of the seasons, in the order of which I found the best, to the least enjoyable…of course each to their own. Also I should add I didn’t really dislike any of them, each of them had interesting aspects in…just some kept me more entertained then others.

First up is of course Murder House. I mean where would this season even be if it didn’t start with the murder house! This season defiantly set the bar high. I guess the thing I really enjoyed about this season is you really didn’t know what was going to happen next…with most horror films or tv shows you can pretty much anticipate what would happen but with this I didn’t know what to expect next.

Next is Hotel. Now of course most people remember this season as Lady Gaga’s debut, but this season was so much more then that! I mean for a start off we had vampires, we had the devil’s night, and of course we had the 10 commandments killer. Again with this one AHS really knocked it out of the park with just the right amount of creepiness and craziness with a hint of factual information just to keep the viewer wanting more.

The next one on my list is My Roanoke Nightmare. This for me completely threw me off. I like history, and looking into parts of the past that people don’t really know about, so straight away I knew I’d like this storyline. But I would never have anticipated the way that this season would have been put together. With the past and present intermingling as one. For me personally I thought it was brilliant, although out of all of the seasons this one seems to be rated the least with viewers…each to their own.

Asylum follows closely after. After re-watching this one recently it was a tough call to make to not put this one up further the list. However with this one more than any of the others, I was left with questions. What did the aliens really want? Why was Kit the chosen one? What did they do with him when he disappeared? I just really wish I could have a second season of this one all by itself just to answer them questions…other than everything else in the show was pretty tied up and still as good as ever!

Second to last on my list is Coven. Don’t get me wrong, I did really enjoy this one as well. Witches ✔️, Sassiness ✔️, Voodoo ✔️, Stevie Nicks✔️.

Finally last on this list is Freakshow. For me I just didn’t really engage with this season at all. I don’t know what it was…maybe I was just distracted and need to re-watch it. I just didn’t feel like it was as interesting to me as the others had been. It almost felt like a sandwich without a filling…just not very enjoyable. Except for the fact that evan peters was in it, which of course is always a bonus.

I guess the thing with the American Horror Show series and which order you, yourself put them in is really just down to which creepy shit your into the most…or at least most interested to find out more about…so maybe this blog reveals a bit more about me then it really should. Anyway I’m excited to see what the next one ‘CULT’ brings!

Netflix, you’ve done it again!

So over the past week or so the internets been going a bit crazy over a new tv show called ’13 Reasons Why’ which has been aired on Netflix. For anyone who doesn’t know or hasn’t got around to watching it yet, the show is about a girl in high school who commits suicide. However before having done this she has recorded tapes listing 13 reasons/people that lead her to do this. I’d also like to add that this is adapted from a book. I haven’t read it but after watching this I probably will to see what had been changed or for need of a better word, adapted.

Without giving away spoilers or it being too heavy…I’d honestly say to watch it. No matter what your age, gender or background…watch it. There’s lessons to be learnt by everyone in it. Wether it’s just to be a bit kinder, consider what you say or do before you do it, or even if you just ignore rumours and think for yourself…we can all take something from this.

The show covers a lot of important issues for example bullying, loneliness, rape and of course suicide. All of which are dealt with by the director and actors appropriately.

I just personally couldn’t rate this any higher. I’ve mentioned before in blogs about how I believe judging people is bad and how you can never know completely what is going on inside a persons mind, and I think this is just such a true representation of this…which I think everyone should at least attempt to open their mind to.

So wether you decided to binge watch it all in one day, or spread it out over a few days. Give it a chance. Who knows, it might even change the way you see the world…at least in some areas.

My hair saviour!

Ok so for me there’s not many hair products that impact me that much that I keep going back…but Aussie, now this is something I will always go back to.

I first discovered Aussie when I was at Uni. My hair was very damaged due to dyeing it so much since I was 13, to the point where ‘good condition’ was a distant memory. So being the girl I am (who had recently received her student loan), I went to Boots and basically picked up anything I could in the hope of restoring my hair’s health. Hair masks, deep conditioners, hair oil…basically anything and everything. Among these products was my hair holy grail! The Aussie 3 minute miracle reconstructor.

So basically after trying most of the other products and having very little results, I decided that this product would be the next I tried so one day after work I decided to chuck some on my hair while it was still dry and sit with it on for about 10-15 minutes. Best. Decision. Ever. My hair felt so much better already! It only took a couple more times to get it back to a good condition, and it felt amazing.

However that wasn’t the most impressive rescue mission from this product. The second time, it saved me from the Blue lagoon (I know the saying is the black lagoon but I literally mean the blue lagoon…in Iceland). Anyone who has been to the blue lagoon, knows that if you get your hair wet it can damage it…massively. Its something to do with certain levels in the water being high which causes your hair to stiffen, and therefore you should use loads of condition when you get out…which I didn’t do, as I was unaware of this at the time. Anyway so as soon as we got home I basically did the same thing that I did while I was at university, and hey presto the miracle that is Aussie prevailed again!

So basically this is now my go to hair product, and I would personally recommend it to anyone!

Wrapping Up 2016

So another year has come and gone and I was thinking about all the things that have been new to me in 2016.

Firstly this year has been the first time I’ve left the country four times…which I’m hoping to do again if not better next year. But its honestly been great! In the last few years my anxiety’s got the better of me while flying but I’m hoping the more I do of it, the better I’ll get.

Next up…sort of cheating because it which links to the first one but… I went to Amsterdam twice. It was somewhere I wanted to tick off my travelling list and it just so happened that the opportunity arose to go twice. I went with the first time with one of closest friends and the second time with a group of friends. Both very different experiences, but both equally amazing. I think I’d definitely go back.

This one isn’t a good thing really but 2016 was the first time I got food poisoning…and the best bit about it? I gave it to myself. Yup that’s right. I am a cooking genius apparently! Basically I’ve learnt that I should be very carefully with rice and salmon. Lets hope that was a first and last.

Back to a positive now, I rejoined a gym. This was and is a difficult one for me as I hate working out. The last time I went to the gym was during University and that lasted all of about a month. And when I say a month what I really mean is I had a membership for a month, and I actually stepped foot in the gym around about three times. This time round I’m actually going! I’m also starting to see some improvements…at least I was before the christmas holidays. Back to it tomorrow, let the pain commence!

Speaking of pain, onto tattoos. In July for my birthday I decided to treat myself (that’s right I bought myself presents) by having two tattoos done in one sitting. To be honest I was quite proud of myself. I had one done on my ankle and one on my ribs, and I thought they’d hurt more than they did. These weren’t my first tattoos, but everyone I’d spoken to said that the ribs was one of the worst places you could get a tattoo due to the pain. Psshhh whimps I say! Heck I might even do that from now one, rather than just having one done at a time.

Returning to the travelling side of the year, I also visited a few more places in England I hadn’t seen before. Last year I decided that I would try to see more of England because I thought it was stupid that there were all of these great cities within driving distance, that I’d never even been to. So I went to Liverpool and Manchester. I only stayed at each for one night but there’s still loads to see. I might even have to return this year.

Onto spending dollars. I’m sad to say that this year I started a very unhealthy addiction… which is spending money on shoes. I don’t know how it happened as I’ve never been madly interested in footwear, but I know it wasn’t my fault. On the one hand I’m learning more about footwear brands, which is good because I’m like a grandma when it comes to what’s in fashion. But on the other hand my bank account hates me for it…I can only hope it was a phase.

Onto the last one…because let’s be honest I’m rambling now. 2016 was my year of being completely single without dating. Now this wasn’t really planned, I just wasn’t that interested or put in any effort. I don’t regret it though. A whole year without hassle or drama. A whole year to only think about myself. Don’t get me wrong, sure having someone is nice. But this year to myself was great!

Anyway roll on 2017! 365 new days, 365 new chances!

The Intern…

I first put this film on as a bit of a whim, as it had just been added to NowTV and I love a bit of Anne hathaway…and a bit of comedy, so I thought why not.

When it started I just thought it would really be a bit of background noise while I was doing other things, as it didn’t really capture me as much as I’d of liked. But once it got into it, I became more and more involved in the storyline.

It basically centres around a guy that’s retired, (without giving too much away) that finds life a bit boring. So he basically gets a job as a senior intern for a fashion company, not really sure as to what he’s doing but with tons of enthusiasm to learn pretty much anything and everything. Although the boss wasn’t entirely on board with this idea, he eventually works his way into the hearts of his colleagues and most importantly his boss…while tackling a few issues along the way (obviously).

Overall I really enjoyed the film. I found it had a refreshing storyline, mainly due to the usual roles being reversed. It really made a good watch, because let’s be honest the repeated storylines get a bit boring after a while. I don’t think I could fault this film really. The main casts were a great choice, and the roles were portrayed just the way they were intended.

I’d definitely recommend anyone to watch this if they like comedy films. Plus I mean who doesn’t like a bit of Robert De Niro…I actually think I have a new-found love for him now after watching this film…I might even look into other films he’s been in that I haven’t watched yet! We shall see…

My First Time in Majorca…

Ok so about a week ago my Instagram was insane! Not to blow my own trumpet, but I always think my instagram is better when I’m off travelling…A bit of a hint by the title but I went to Majorca/Mallorca for the first time (not sure why there’s two spellings)…anyway.

I’d been to the Balearic Island of Ibiza before and in many way this was very similar looks and personality wise, but on the flip side the holiday in general was different. The first reason why it was different was we went (me and my friend Georgina) all inclusive. ALL INCLUSIVE! Oh my. Saying it now even makes my mouth water. I mean sure there was alcohol of all varieties, wine, sangria, beer, vodka, rum. BUT I’m talking about the food! I love food…so the thought of being able to eat whatever I wanted however many times I wanted was just amazing. The three main foods for me just in that week were bread smothered in butter, grilled salmon, and of course Ice Cream! There were other foods of course with lots of variety ,so I didn’t waste the chance to try things I’d never tried before like Paella and lemon fish and even Muscles.  But the bread! I have no idea what the Spanish do but their bread is soooo good! Moving on…

The second thing that was different about this holiday was the company. Having only two people means that there’s less people to keep happy. Sure going in groups can be great and you can always split up, but there are a lot more people to keep happy lets be honest and you aren’t always going to want to do the same things. Another thing about it just being the two of us is that we are easy people to please in general, so it was nice to just have a relaxing holiday with nothing or no-one to worry about. Pure bliss…until I dragged Georgina shopping every so often. Sorry not sorry.

Now Majorca as an Island is a mixture of things. You have the nice quiet, relaxing area like where we stayed in Santa Ponça. You have the shopping, city side of it like in Palma, and then you have the Magaluf side, which you know each to their own but I wouldn’t like to stay their personally. We only saw this part for a few minutes, and I’m normally not one to judge but them few minutes going through Magaluf was enough (yes that rhymed…depending on how you say it). It wasn’t pretty put it that way. Palma on the other hand was a gorgeous city full of amazing architecture, art, entertainment and of course shops!

Getting around Majorca was easy too. Walking around there were lots to see and do in Santa Ponça, including DJ Rudy’s magical Bingo Bongo nights at the hotel, always a treat! But the buses were easy to get to too (once we found a bus stop) and cheap to get us to towns around Santa Ponça, it was €3.40 to get to Palma! Definitely worth the money, even if the bus driver was counting his money rather than keeping his eyes on the road all the time :/.

Overall the whole experience was brilliant for me, from the hotel to the whole Island I couldn’t fault it and I’d definitely go back again! I returned home feeling so relaxed and even refreshed…Until next time DJ Rudy!
