Velvet Teddy

So a couple of weeks ago…I bought my first ever mac lipstick. I know that seems unimportant to any guys that are currently reading this…but for the girls this could be a pretty big deal.

Now some of you may be thinking how the hell did I get to the ripe old age of 24 without buying a mac lipstick, especially when there are 13 year olds walking around wearing this stuff. The truth is, I’m a tight arse. I didn’t want to spend nearly £17 on a lipstick if  wasn’t sure on the colour or finish of it. So after scrolling through many Instagram posts and looking on the Mac website a million times, I finally decided to go for the nude Velvet Teddy which has a matte finish.

BEST. DECISION. EVER.

The application is smooth with a beautiful finish, it’s long lasting (which I’ve tried and tested while eating and drinking everything I could find) and the colour is basically my lip colour but better. This choice was definitely the best choice for my first purchase…the only reason why it wasn’t a good decision is because now I want to go and buy more, and right now my bank balance just won’t be happy with me.

The only other thing I have noticed about this lipstick, is that when looking on Instagram, twitter or even on YouTube videos…the colour of this lipstick looks completely different on everyone. It’s as if it’s some sort of chameleon lipstick. Other than that I’d recommend it to anyone…who wants to pay that much.

Packing…

Okay so basically I’m off to Poland in 2 days, and this is the most unprepared for a trip I’ve ever been and to be honest….it upsets me. So to avoid any more procrastination I’m basically going to write a list on a blog…in the added hope that it means I won’t forget anything for the trip.

But before that here’s a few details! I’m going to Krakow with my oldest friend for five days, our aim is mainly to soak up the history of Poland with Auschwitz being at the top of our list. We’ve rented an apartment from a man off Airbnb which will be a new experience for me, so I hope it goes smoothly. It’s located just outside the city centre which means we will be doing quite a bit of walking (which I like anyway). And I’ve been keeping an eye on the weather which seems to be varying between 2 and -2 degrees celsius so some warm clothes will be essential as I’m cold majority of the time anyway. Ok so let’s start.

Toiletries:
Toothbrush (Obviously, can’t get anywhere without that)
Toothpaste
Deodorant
Perfume (Not a necessity but I like to smell like a flower)
Shampoo (Aussie, only the best)
Condition (Aussie again, I’m slightly obsessed)
Shower Gel (Shop and Glory…duh!)

Clothes:
2 Hats (you may be thinking two hats for five days, tad excessive, but I already took out one hat!)
6 Pair’s of socks (you never know when you’ll need a spare pair!)
‘Lady garments'(undies)
5 Jumpers (Can’t be wearing the same one twice when I bought some nice one’s just for this trip!)
3 Pairs of Jeans
2 Pairs of thermal leg wear and tops (Hey I already said I get cold…)
1 Pair of gloves
1 Scarf

Shoes:
1 pair of walking boots (Again we will be doing a lot of walking, duh!)
1 pair of trainers (In the hope that one day it won’t be snowing)

Extras:
Make up bag (To attempt to look pretty)
Jewellery (Everyone needs accessories)
Tissues (I don’t know what will happen at Auschwitz emotion wise)
Camera
Krakow Guidebook (Ok so I’m prepared to some extent)
Important Documents

Ok so that could be without doubt one of the most boring blogs…or if your off to Poland during winter, you know, that could actually have been quite helpful. Anyway at least I’m packed now! Let the Poland adventures begin!

Best Beauty Buys Of 2016 So Far…

Ok so we are nearly half way into 2016, and so far you know its had its ups and downs, BUT on the shopping front its had a LOT of up’s. So here’s a little list of my best beauty buys of 2016 so far (Yes this is going to be a very girly blog, also these purchases were mainly made in the UK).

IMG_82541. Oral B 3D White Toothpaste – This is a necessity of course. Everyone needs toothpaste. And if you don’t …well you’re a little bit weird. Anyway a few weeks ago I was on the look out for a new toothpaste that made my teeth look whiter and this is what I got. In my opinion the whiteness has improved quite a bit, not to the extent it would if you went to get them professional whitened but still good.
*This was £2.00 on offer at Tesco’s (love a bargain).*

2. Bore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser – I’ve been IMG_8255
using this cleanser for a few months now, mainly to take my make up and give my face more of a deep clean. I love it, even the tingley feeling when it’s on my face. Definitely makes my skin feel better after a long day.
*£3.50 at ASDA (also on offer).*

3. PS Cleaner Brush – This comes in handy with the previous purchase. It’s so easy to use! It can feel a bit rough at first…but once it’s fully wet and the products on it, it glides nicely over your face.
*£1.00 Primark*

4. Soap and Glory Butter Yourself Moisture Lotion – WhoIMG_8257 doesn’t want ultra soft skin? This is perfect and smells amazing! I normally apply it straight after the shower to absorb as much moisture as possible, essential when you have eczema prone skin!
*£10.00 Boots. But they normally have offer’s on like two for the price of three, or buy one get one half price.*

5. Lush Charity Pot Hand and Body Lotion – They offer these at the till, and they are perfect to just carry around in your bag. It smells amazing and it’s very moisturising. What more could you want?
*£1.00 Lush.*

IMG_82526. Avon Planet Spa Face Masks – I love face masks! On an average
week I will use them about once or twice whenever my face needs alittle extra pampering. At the moment I favour the Perfectly Purifying Mud Mask one, as it dries up any spots that may be trying to surface.
*Roughly around £3.45 Avon.*

7. IMG_6936Essence Gel Nail Polish – I stumbled upon these while taking my mum shopping. They are really cheap and have a nice glossy finish to them. The only downside is with the amount of washing up I do at work the polish doesn’t last very long.
*£1.60 Wilkinsons.*

IMG_82588. Kiko Smart Lipsticks – These are such great lipsticks! Great Pigmentation, great lasting power, great price and easy application for us
women who don’t find applying lipstick that easy. Overall I’ll definitely be buying some more in the near future! *£3.90 Kiko*

IMG_82619. Wet n Wild Lipsticks – I’d heard about this brand before but never had the chance to try it out, as this brand isn’t available in the UK. However when I was in Mallorca I noticed them, and I’m so glad I did. Ever since I bought it, it’s been a part of my daily make up and I love them! The last most of the day depending on what I’m eating, but I really don’t mind re applying it if it comes off.
*€2.99 This was purchased in a beauty shop in Mallorca, however you can buy them online too.*

IMG_825910. Hema Soft Matte Lip Balm – I actually purchased this in the Amsterdam store, however I do know we have one down in london. This lip balm is so nice on the lips, it has a great colour and it is very moisturising which means its perfect in the winter months when your lips need a extra bit of protection. I can’t wait to go down to London and get some different colours.
*£4.75 Hema.*

I hope you liked this blog as It’s a bit different to my normal ones, I will be doing a part two to this blog focusing on the best fashion buys of 2016 so far, so I’ll see you then!

Sunday the 16th of August

My day in bullet points…

  • Woke up to a message from my best friend (who interrupted my amazing dream!)
  • Grabbed the clothes I was going to wear for the day
  • Skipped breakfast
  • Washed my hair
  • Dried my hair
  • Did my make-up
  • Got dressed finally
  • Hobbled around the living room until said friend arrived
  • Travelled for an hour and a half to Bridlington
  • Gorged myself on every type of food I could find at the seaside…including a hot pork sandwich!
  • Walked around in the sunshine
  • Bought some rock for the family
  • Travelled back home after taking a wrong turn and ending to hull
  • Attempted to fix my car a bit
  • Then had a lazy evening watching PLL and eating everything in sight

🙂 pretty standard overall.

Becoming Girly…

When I was younger I always thought I was classed as ‘girly’…however when I reached the world of ‘womanhood’ I realised just how wrong I was. The world just seemed so much easier as a little girl, but now… ugh. There’s make up, waxing, plucking, dressing up, attitude, presentation and don’t even get me started on the whole body changing period issue.

Some women just seem take it all in naturally, but for some of us we struggle instead. We don’t know how to do some of the stuff we are supposed to; and you can YouTube it or even research it all you like, and still be none the wiser. But you see the thing is, once you hit a certain age the problem isn’t how to be ‘girly’ it’s more how to be sexy…and that is a whole new obstacle.

Basically this is just an update of where I am now…in my mind. Pretty pointless really but I guess we all go through it at some stage…my stage begins now.

Foundation…

Now normally I love shopping. However one thing I actually hate to buy is… foundation. There’s just so many choices, all for different skins types, in a mass variety of shades and colours, and majority of them costing quite a bit to a girl who can only get part time jobs (not through choice).

Now I think a lot of guys reading this could believe there’s a simple solution to this problem. Just don’t buy it! But there’s so many reasons why we feel we must. For example to make ourselves feel better. I mean most days majority of women can’t just roll out of bed and look ‘hot as hell’. For some of us it takes a little bit more than that.

Anyway getting back into what I was talking about, the whole process of finding a brand new foundation after deciding you fancy a change from your ‘normal’ foundation is just all in all stressful. Yes you can do research before going to the shops, because after all the internet is packed full of blog reviews, vlog reviews and even just shop reviews. But that just isn’t enough! Reading a review online and having the product at hand are two completely different things. I mean I do the swab test (on the back of my hand) and sometimes even that’s not helpful. It’s as if the product changes from the time you put it on the back of your hand, go to purchase it, and then get it home! Before you know it that’s £9 you’ve wasted on a product you hate.

Am I the only on who has this thought process? Is there no solution to this nightmare….or am I just being a massive girl?

Ughhh! *exhales* Rant over!
